Horseback Riding “Las Yaretas camp” – 4 days
Itinerary:
Día 1: Mendoza / Manzano Histórico horseback riding
In the morning, transfer from the city of Mendoza to the Uco Valley area. Arrival to the town «El Manzano Historico». Beginning of the ride from the Manzano Histórico to the Las Yaretas camp located at 3500 m. Set up of the camp. Dinner and rest.
Day 2 – Las Yaretas / Portillo Argentino / Las Yaretas
During this day, the ride reaches its maximum altitude reaching the Portillo Argentino, located at 4380 m. After enjoying a spectacular view of the mountain range, descent and return to Las Yaretas camp. Dinner and rest.
Day 3 – Las Yaretas / Manantiales / Las Yaretas
On the third day we tour the Los Manantiales valley, a monumental landscape located at 3800 m. Return to Las Yaretas camp. Dinner and Rest.
Day 4 – Las Yaretas / Manzano Histórico
On this last day we will ride from Las Yaretas to the Historic Manzano. In the afternoon we will return to our starting point where a vehicle will wait for us to transfer to the city of Mendoza. End of tour and of our services.
Option 2:
Horseback Riding “Real de La Cruz” – 4 days
The main feature of this expedition is the high altitude reached on the second day when crossing the porthole called «Portillo Argentino”, located at 4380 m.a.s.l. From there begins the descent towards the splendid Valley of the Tunuyán river. A really exciting experience that leaves you shocked by the greatness of the Andes.
Included services:
- Reception in the city of Mendoza.
- Round trip transfer from the city of Mendoza to the starting point of the ride.
- Lodging during the stay in tents (double and triple occupancy igloo tents) or in gaucho beds (using the saddle). DOES NOT INCLUDE lodging in the «Real de la Cruz” refuge.
- Docile horses with mounts.
- Transportation of equipment on mules. Up to 8 kg per person.
- Saddlebags.
- All meals and drinks during the riding expedition.
- Professional mountain guide, “baquianos” (experimented locals) and “arrieros” (muleteers) permanently.
- Complete campaign team.
- First aid kit.
- Satellite phone for emergencies (does not include private calls).

A horse is appointed for each person. Narrow gullies and steep hills will give rise to this horseback riding that heading to the roads leading to the most remote places of the Andes mountain range. In the afternoon, arrival at the camp «Real de la Mula Muerta», where we will settle for the first night of our journey. Dinner and campfire.
Day 2: Horseback riding
In the morning, after breakfast, we prepare to continue this great adventure on horseback. In the highest peaks we can contemplate a splendid view of the colossal valleys of the Andes mountain range. A demanding day of horseback riding awaits us, we must climb on horseback until we overcome the «Portillo Argentino» located at 4380 m.a.s.l. Every day we will stop for lunch to share lunch in the middle of the mountains. The downhill from “Portillo Argentino” is taking intense colors as we approach the Tunuyán river valley, where we will rest at the end of the day. The night will find us enjoying a delicious dinner. Night in tent.
Day 3: Horseback riding
The first rays of sun finds us in the valley, where we will share some delicious “mates” with cuyanas pancakes at breakfast. This day will tour the surrounding of the camp, contemplating the fabulous Tunuyán river Valley. We will ride on horseback to a beautiful lagoon where the snow-capped peaks are reflected. In the afternoon, we return to the camp.
Day 4: Manzano Histórico / Mendoza horseback riding
The awakening in the heights of the mountain range doesn’t compare to anything, the landscape, the snow so close, the silence. After breakfast we begin our return. The majesty of the landscape invites us to stop constantly to try to capture in photographs what will surely be very difficult describe with our words. Safety and comfort is the primary concern of guides and muleteers, who will constantly accommodate mounts and observe each horse. Almost without realizing it, at noon, we will meet us and share a picnic lunch. After a short break enjoying the sun, we will return to the road. We must ascent until reaching again 4,380 m.a.s.l. in the so-called «Portillo Argentino», a narrow pass that divides the high peaks with the valley of the Tunuyán river. In the afternoon we will return to our starting point where a vehicle wait us for transfer to the city of Mendoza. End of tour and of our services.
Notes:
Previous experience: this cavalcade is designed for all audiences, whether they are experts or beginners. The horses that are used are docile and accustomed to the mountainous trails, therefore it does not need previous experience or knowledge to be able to ride.
Itineraries: the itineraries of the horseback riding can experience changes depending on customers and weather conditions. The different itineraries have a common thread that is our main objective: making our horseback riding trips come a real expedition on horseback, enjoying every moment of the wild nature and the most varied and impressive Andean landscapes.
